Inspiring Ideas to Spice up Autumn

Seasonal transitions can be tough on our bodies, as our skin, energy and immune system need to adapt. A great way to make the transition from summer to winter is by drinking juice.

When autumn comes around there is a great selection of seasonal fruit and veg in the supermarkets. From blackberries to pumpkins, there are many delicious seasonal foods that you can incorporate into your diet easily with the help of juice.

Pear Juice

This fruit is incredibly juicy and is a great way to sweeten your juices. As a member of the rose family of plants, including apples and cherries, pears come in many varieties. We found the best pears for juicing are Concorde pears as these are sweet and fragrant.

Recipe

  • 1 Apple
  • 3 Pears
  • 1 Carrot
  • 2 slices of Pineapple
  • 1/4 Pink Grapefruit

Pumpkin Juice

As a member of the squash family pumpkin is probably the most well-known vegetable in autumn, but they aren’t just for carving scary faces into. Packed with vitamin A and beta-carotene, pumpkin can help maintain healthy skin and bones.

Recipe

  • 1/2 Small Pumpkin
  • 2 Sweet Apples
  • 1 tablespoon  Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • A dash of Vanilla Extract and Ground Nutmeg

Make sure not to throw the seeds out as these can be dried and eaten as a delicious snack, added to oats to make it a little more interesting and added to salads to give more texture. Pumpkin seeds are a great source of omega fatty acids which we mainly get from oily fish.

Blackberry Cordial

Blackberries are packed with vitamin C, as just one cup contains half your recommended value. But for some people blackberries can be very tart and often dodge them in the supermarket, so we suggest making your own blackberry cordial.

Recipe

  • 3-4 cups Blackberries
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 3 Sweet Apples
  • 1 cup Raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon Honey

Juice all of your fruit and then bring to the boil in a pan. Simmer and add the cinnamon stick and honey. Stir continuously for 15 mins. Allow to cool and decant into airtight containers. Use within 3 days.

Blackberries aren’t everyone's favourite, so try blackberries and yoghurt for a fulfilling breakfast.

Carrot and Beetroot Juice

As autumn starts closing in we start to think about our immune system and whether or not we will catch a cold this year. A good way to ensure you don’t catch any nasty bugs this autumn/winter is by boosting your immune system naturally with juice. Carrots are a fantastic immune system boosting vegetable that has antiseptic and antibacterial abilities. We love using beetroot too, because it will give any of your juices a great colour. It’s also great for blood pressure as it is full of nitrate which is known for lowering blood pressure.

Recipe

  • 1 Beetroot peeled
  • 4 Carrots
  • 3 Apples
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger

These are our favourite autumn juices and are a great way to try new fruit and veg and really get the most out of the season. Not only are these juices healthy but they really do taste good and can be adapted to suit your own personal tastes.
